As of 1st October 2005, smoking is prohibited in almost ALL public places. These include coffeeshops and community centres. Harsh!
Personally, I do not approve when it comes to smoking, but somehow, I feel a little perturbed at the strong stand the government is taking. I can imagine all the old uncles, ah peks, and ah gongs, cursing and swearing (insert multiple expletives!) at the government for putting forth such a policy. It just seems sad that old friends can no longer sit at a kopitiam and have a kopi and a smoke. I mean, effectively their mornings have been destroyed.
And those who like to sit in Community Centres and play Chinese Chess and smoke and discuss chess moves also cannot liao. To alot of people, smoking IS breathing to them. I'm waiting to see if anything interesting will occur because of this new rule. It'll certainly be intriguing. Haha. Actually I can ask for first-hand information from my Dad about what he thinks about this new ruling. Haha, can almost imagine him cursing and swearing too..
I was watching the news on Channel 8, and they were interviewing locals to get their opinion. Most of them said, "since the government said so, then follow lor. No choice what!". Another said this which I found quite funny, "Like that, then go Malaysia smoke lah!"
Haha...sigh, I'm glad I do not smoke. It's not fun having your oxygen pulled out from your life with just an implementation of a policy...just seems harsh. Well, I'm not complaining, just sympathising. Heh.
School ended for me already...bored...sheesh, think I may go and read my readings (which I prolly won't in the end). Sianz...
