Trying Day

Not a very good day for me today. I had to bring grandpa for his medical appointment today. Spend a good 5hours in SGH. The tumour is quite bad. It doesn't look good...

I feel stressed, helpless, and slightly sad.

Sighz...only two decisions available, and both seem just as dangerous/hopeless. Not good, not good at all...I guess this is what happens when people grow old. Everything from their youth comes to haunt them. For Grandpa, it's all the smoking he did when he was younger...sighz...the cancer has recurred, and now machiam back with a vengeance. I'm so worried...I just hope everything will be ok.

Okay lah, no point trying to think too much...just be with him all the way can liao...he take care of me so long already. Sighz..

A Muppet Speaks

Been an amazing week. Rollercoaster again...

I am so glad that you sat next to me the entire way. ^_^ I know I will not lose you, but I sure as hell will miss you. Whatever it is...thank you for always being there. It was there and we never really saw it for what it was...in hindsight, even as we recognise it for what it is now, and what it could be, we know it cannot be. I already tried...I have said so many things that I usually would not say (these things, the socially/ethically/morally correct XJ would never say, let alone suggest) or ask of you, but I know when you say cannot, I know why 不可以。

Each and everyone of them was different, but I know that deep down, you were truly special. Why? Simply because it FELT different, and my heart doesn't lie...I'm not saying I talk to my heart very often, but I dare say I talk to it more often than not. ^_^

Spent the morning listening to sappy songs...and the following lyrics jumped out at me:

"...i know it's been said
many times many ways
but it's never come from a deeper place..."

"...i may not be beside you every day
i may run out of tender words to say
can't promise you the world
when all i have is love
only love

i may not be the one you're thinking of
i may not fit your perfect dreams of love
one thing i know for sure
and you can rest assure
my love is always yours..."

==============================================================================
I Can Love You Easy

we've been connected all this time
by an invisible string attached from your heart to mine
we circle the obvious like satellites that roam around the earth
no, i'm never gonna let you go

i can love you easy if you give me the chance
suddenly we feel so close and it happened so fast
let's take tonight
this heart can't lie, believe me
baby i can love you easy

i hear you speak and it's like a song
the funny thing is i think we both knew it all along
we circle each other just like children in a crowded carousel
oh, it's a story we have to tell

i can love you easy if you give me the chance
suddenly we feel so close and it happened so fast
let's take tonight
this heart can't lie, believe me
baby i can love you easy

we got so used to thinking that one is always far
love has a way of knowing exactly where you are

i can love you easy if you give me the chance
suddenly we feel so close and it happened so fast
let's take tonight
this heart can't lie, believe me
baby i can love you
baby i can love you
baby i can love you easy

Thanks

a return to love - marianne williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

one MSN chat...and I shifted...I love you M.

Motorola L6

THANK YOU JASON!

Must really thank Jason for giving me his Motorola L6 which he did not want anymore. Super cool of him sia...really surprised and touched! Now I don't have to use my Mom's terrible old model from the Jurassic Age. Whew!

This phone got Bluetooth leh...so that means I can transfer files and all that kinda thang. And it has a camera too! So I'm definitely not complaining...I can be camera whore again! Heehee...I will use this phone to tide me over until my plan expires I guess. Until then, it will be saving money time. ^_^ The phone is not the latest model, but it was the pioneering slim, form factor phone from Motorola...and since it looks so CHIO, I am happy to receive it! Woot!

Thanks again Jason! You're awesome! ;)

bored

I don't know how many times people have used the above title for their blog entries. I really am feeling bored now...so annoying...I don't really feel like playing Guild Wars, and there's not much to do. I already watched Bleach and Naruto, and I even listened to Mr Brown's latest podcast already. What is left? Hmmm...

Earlier tonight I watched The Next Wave at the University Cultural Centre. Very nice. It was a well balanced line of performances and there really was something for everyone. I watched with Aeron...(becos SOMEBODY double-park lor...so disgusting...and to think he always say double-parking is bad...tsk tsk tsk). No matter, cause Aeron for excellent company! Kudos to Aeron! Hah!

I especially loved the Chinese-esque number which had 红绸舞 (red-silk dance) elements incorporated inside lor...SO NICE!!! I was wondering why where there SO MANY 'ginnas' there tonight. And then I realised why...because St. Anthony's Cannosian (did I spell it right?) had a guest performance for tonight, so EVERYONE from the school was there to support. And of course, since they're an all-girls school, the supporters were mainly raving classmates who screamed at everything remotely SAC-ish and covert boyfriends trying to act cool, even though acting cool when you're obviously 14 years old is a little hard. Haha...there were even some boys in school uniform can?! hahaha...so funny lor.

tomorrow i'm going to buy an assessment book for my tuition kid, and do abit of shopping at Great World...I think I will study in the morning or at night. See how lah...got two tests coming up next week.

Sighz...I should've stayed in Leo's room to play PS2...then go home the next day...sianz...

=========================================================================
Earlier this afternoon, I head down to town with Daniel to do some shopping. I wanted to do something nice for Leo for being such a great friend, so I bought him something from TOYS'R'US...(of course I won't say what it is lah...but he was quite happy to receive it...mwahahaha) We need to find some excuse to play with it soon...I SOOO wanna try it out also...hahaha. =]

Dan bought a nice shirt, and wore it straight away. He even rolled up the sleeves! Hahhaa...(those of you who know, YOU KNOW...so just laugh at me, and keep it to yourselves! ^_^)

Then I rushed home to prepare for my first tuition lesson with my new Korean kid! (thank you Jerms for the excellent lobang, I really OWE you a big time treat! I will contact you soon with the details...heehee) I printed out a few worksheets only to find that his mom actually only wanted me to CHAT with him. This hourly session was to help him to improve his CONVERSATIONAL English! Up bo?!?! I get paid $25/hr to chit-chat! Ultimate sia...woot! Love you JEREMY!!! Must intro more deals to me next time! =)

The thing is, Roy's (the tuition kid) mom was an English major in Korea, and she speaks excellent American-accented English. The funny thing is, I automatically accomodated her, and ended up speak with the accent for a whole hour. After I left the place, I realised I had ABIT of problem switching back. I need to brush up on my code-switching skills.

iPod Shuffle!!!

Just received an update from Apple! This is too cool lor...and I LOVE the new iPod Shuffle!!! Even though it can no longer function as a USB thumbdrive, but it's freaking 'chio', don't you think?!?!

Sigh...now got another thing on my wishlist...somemore it costs $79 only!!! Totally can buy right?!?!?!? Jialat...spend spend spend...sheesh....

Tiong Bahru lunch

This post is a little overdue, so bear with me. Here are some pics from the excellent lunch I had at Tiong Bahru market. This is the new market, all renovated and everything. So it's really spacious, and airy, and basically looks nice and new-ish.

Why Tiong Bahru market? Well, somebody watched this show on Channel 8, where Bryan Wong and Calvin Soh go around hunting for stalls with unusually long queues, after which, they will accost a few innocent bystanders to ask for their opinions. Once the reason for queuing is established, that stall is expected to serve a panel of judges, and then these judges (both local Singaporeans and local celebrities) will critique the food.

So this time round, it was Shark's Meat Lor Mee, and some super nice wanton noodles with uber-delicious char siew (roasted pork).

When I arrived at the market, Leonard and Tien were already queuing up. And it was horrendous! Post-TV show fame really helped the two businesses. Tien had like, 20+ people (shark meat lor mee) in the queue in front of him, and Leonard had about 12+ people (wanton noodle stall). I looked on in disbelief for abit, and decided to ATTEMPT to locate another stall with a moderately long queue so that by the time I bought my food, I would more or less be able to sync with them. Alas, it was not possible. Shark meat lor mee, and uber-delicious char siew wanton noodle stall just were too much.

This was my lunch - simple pig's innard's soup with rice. The stall had a modest queue as well, signifying some form of popularity (of course its queue paled in comparision to the other two stalls'), so I figured I'd buy this, and hope that I would at least take a long time. However, because it was a soupy dish, my queuing adventure was over in about 20 minutes. Leonard and Tien carried on with their individual missions, determined to make this trip to TB market worthwhile.

This was the length of the queue from the shark meat lor mee stall. Check out the number of people in front of, and behind, Tien. Siao right?!?!

So anyway, I bought my food, and stared at it for quite awhile, intending to wait for the two of them. I decided to stop when I received the following SMS from Tien:

"R u sure u wanna wait for the next Singapore shark lor mee idol n wanton idol. Just eat first. We r still in top 5."

Damn funny...

So I started eating lor...very very SLOWLY of course. Heh.

They finally came back with the food!!! (After about 10-15 more minutes of waiting.) The total waiting time for the food came to a grand total of 1HR! Amazing! The things we will do for food...seriously man...hahhaa...that being said...it was really worth it. Here's the proof.

Uber-delicious char siew with wanton mee Superstar.

Shark meat lor mee Idol.
(queue so long, don't buy TWO bowls is siao lor...^_^)

Looks good right?!?!?! And trust me, it really was good lor. If you've ever watched those crazy Japanese anime where the characters eat something, and lightning flashes through their heads, well, this is exactly how these two dishes tasted. To be very honest, the char siew was really really FARKING GOOD! And the shark's meat (actually it's just fish...BUT VERY GOOD FISH! The texture's totally different) was DIVINE! Very very good...totally lived up to all the hype. Hahaha.

Before

The two 'idols' and the 'not-so-idol-ish' pig's innards soup

After

But heck...EVERYTHING was GREAT! Yum!

If you noticed, there was a lone piece of char siew left. Don't worry, it was well taken care of by dearest Leonard. Hahaha...

PS: Some people have the funniest faces when they managed to buy the dish they have been craving for the entire week. It's a deranged, overly happy look that borders on insanity. But there there, we still love you... =P

** Please feel free to click on the photos to get a better look (especially at the food!). ^_^**

他妈的!

I hate being a tuition teacher sometimes. I got a fucked up student who refused to THINK. She's Primary 3, and she cannot do 6 x 50cents?!?! I've been patient with her for ONE WHOLE YEAR already, and this time I just scold her, and what happened?

Her dad called...

He DID NOT want to hear anything I had to say. Just focussed on blasting me about changing teachers, asking me if I was unhappy teaching his daughter, saying that as a teacher I have to be patient (I HAVE! For one FUCKING YEAR!)...blah blah blah blah...

Before he even called, he had already decided that he was RIGHT...and boy, was he adamant about being right...so I just say I was wrong and say sorry lor...no point arguing with fucked up parents like that. They have this mentality:

child farked up = need tuition = pay $ = tuition teacher should wave magic wand = child get good grades.
(parents can sit back and relak one corner...)

The above formula is very rooted in most parents' minds. So you want me to help your child, but when I tell her the truth of how lazy she is, I get scolded for my honesty? Question my teaching methods, and wave your $$ in my face by saying that I can 'not earn his money if I'm not happy teaching'...gosh...fucked up lor.

*angry angry angry*

I've decided...I WILL earn your $$, and I will NEVER raise my voice at your daughter ever again...she can watch herself go to the dogs...

Rip her to shreds for all I care...I will just be nice and collect my $$.

(PS: Don't send your child to me if you expect pampering, and namby pamby sweet talk...I don't specialise in that...and to those of you who think I am too harsh again, BLEAH! Lol...^_^)

wanted to post pictures of the excellent lunch at Tiong Bahru market..but now no mood already...grrr...annoyance....

Spanner in my plans

Was supposed to head down to Hougang this morning to collect the new keys for the group tuition place there. Then that Mrs Ho suddenly called to say that the MP was coming down, so she had to cancel all her lessons. Argh...now I have no key, and she said that she was going to pass the key to Daryl (remember mechanical pencil cap in nostril boy?) for him to pass to me on Monday.

I was like...sigh, whatever lah, do whatever you want. If on Monday we have no classroom to use, I will have to conduct tuition at the void deck lor...sheesh...really cannot stand this woman...the aura of incompetence is overwhelming.

Anyway, I had an entertaining chat with Tien last night, and a very usual (usual here of course means it was super bitchy and fun lah...nothing less from our chitchat sessions...haha) chat with Leo as well...cured me of the boredom I was feeling the entire evening. LOL My superheroes always come through for me...HAHAHA...I am so lucky.

Going for lunch at Tiong Bahru with Leo and Tien later...then I will probably hang out in TB to do some marking I guess, then it will be tuition at Kampong Bahru, and then either go back Yishun, or go back to Depot to chill...see how lor...feeling lazy again...haiz....
