A 5-Hour Holiday in Vivocity

Studying can be a bore, and when one is bored, one should give oneself a break and fill one's time with meaningful activities like....

SHOPPING!!!

Dan and I popped down to Vivocity for a good 5 hours of shopping and walking around exploring almost every nook and cranny carefully and discerningly. Here are some pictures taken with my terrible VGA camera phone, but still good enough to tell a story. ^_^

This bar of chcolate accompanied us during the initial leg of our 'expedition'. It cost me SGD$2.00 and tasted freaking good! It's called Coconut Slab, and the dessicated coconut mixed throughout the bar of milk chocolate was EXCELLENT. Dan even said it was a "what heaven tastes like". Hahaha...perfect way to kick start a walk throught Vivocity which is fairly extensive, especially after my lower body is still aching from the squats I did in the gym yesterday. =P

One of the pretty Christmas trees inside Vivocity! A fairly pleasant sight. I feel the trees are pretty well decorated and quite tasteful. They have the traditonal feel to them, like those which we see on TV of them highly Westernized forms of Christmas. Nice lah...better than trying to put weird things like handphones, or clowns or tyres.

The changing rooms in Topman are quite cool actually...looks very graphic/retro right? Took a picture while waiting for Dan to try on a super nice shirt that was too expensive for either of us. Sigh..I wanna start working soon, so that can buy nice things. Sianz...clothes are SOOO expensive. Grrrr...

This very COLOURFUL jersey/sweater thing from Tommy Hilfiger looks super nice right? Of course I doubt I could ever carry it off...but some of the jerseys there were super nice lah...alas, the price of one could buy me like a third of a PS3 lah...so they were a big no-no for me. Ah well...reminds me that I need to start working soon, so that I can buy nice things for myself. Heh.

We had dinner at Carl's Junior, and this was my FIRST TIME having the decadent thing. I had a Guacamole Bacon Cheeseburger! It was superb, though I really felt like puking towards the end. The portion is really TOO much already, and though extremely tasty, I sure felt like I had to visit the confession booth (and I'm not even Catholic!).

All the while, I was thinking about how I was SUPPOSED to be in the gym with HX and Vi...hahaha...ah well, it was a good first experience, but I doubt I will be eating there anytime soon. Really too fattening liao...hahaha. Body systems can totally crash because of this lah...and I can say that their burgers put all other burgers to shame.

Somehow, I was reminded of the documentary Supersize Me, and then when I looked at the burger in my hands, I felt slightly scared. Hahaha...ah well, just ONCE! No more!

Of course, we mustn't forget the wonderful Chilli Fries which tasted slightly Indian...wow...never knew fries could taste like that. Heh. Please look at the next picture for the aftermath of our Carl's Junior dinner.

You see that big box on the left? That was where the Chilli Fries were... And you see that big ball of paper sticking out from the fries box on the right? That's how much paper had to be used to wrap my burger. Gross right? But tasted good man...hahaha.

I was telling Dan how sinful I felt. Dan suddenly burst out with a "Holy Guacamole!" and I quickly followed with a "that's far from HOLY!!!", and we both just laughed with the full knowledge of the heavy sin we carried within our bellies. I pray nothing bursts forth from my stomach during the night. =P

After dinner, we just walked around abit more, and explored a few more shops. I think we managed to step into every shop that had clothes or stuff for men, so that's not too bad. Dan had a field day with shopping...he both new clothes and I think he fairly pleased with himself. I just bought a pink top, and that was that. I'm going to wait for the Isetan Private Sale on the 28th...those whom I have invited, you know who you are. If you have not been invited...hmmm...wait lor..maybe I will ask you if there are enough tickets.

This was the last photo I took for our short 'holiday' from studying - the tree at Harbourfront Centre. It was full of bears. Dan commented that bears on top look slightly scared, and the ones below looked like they were complaining how they will never be on top. Ah well...that's Dan for u...he can talk to soft toys. Wish I could do that...(actually, sometimes I can also...heehee)

Anyway, back to studying for my PS1101E paper on Friday! I want exams to be over! Argh!

Some random pictures taken from my room in Depot:

These were taken in the early morning, at around 7am?

Pretty, grey skies...just before the rain, so the weather was cool - excellent for sleeping! ^_^

The Wind Did Change

Excited! Hesistant! Confused!

I know not whether to feel excited, or disappointed
I know not whether to welcome a new guest, or an old friend
I know not whether I will still be charged with zeal, or mellow with familiarity
I know not whether what may come from this meeting of two beings,
so who am I to decide what is the outcome before it even takes place?

Notus! Oh, Notus...like the wind god that you are, you play tricks on me.
I am blinded by your nimble movements, and enchanted by your mercurial nature.
Like the wind that you are, you have changed and may change still
But I know that in my heart I am curious, and hungry to find out what is it that rests within me.
Be it zeal, or familiarity, all things happen for a reason,
and I anxiously await your coming.

Summer storms or autumn showers.

Gasp. Sigh. Scream!

Winds Of Change

as I sit in my garden and reminisce
I feel the gentle winds on my skin
they whisper messages of hope, despair and trepidation
they herald the coming of change and new things

Boreas was tender and sweet in coming
but left in his wake a trail of
cold hurt and bittersweet memories
forever etched into my flesh

To Notus an invite was delivered
I wonder if he yearns to bring his storms
of late summer and autumn to this humble garden
excitement lightly brushes the edges of my soul

Fortune bestowed me audience with the Anemoi
and as I sit in my garden and reflect and project
I can't help but feel a moment most poignant
as these cardinal winds weave their natural magic about me.

Used up all my luck?

Me: WAH! I tell you ah, just now in the toilet right? My pencil case almost dropped into the toilet bowl!

Jinhan: WAH!

Me: Yeah, I put my pencil case on the ledge, and I put my jacket over it. Then when I was done, I forgot my pencil case was there and when I took my jacket, it fell, hit the side of the bowl, and fell OUTSIDE of it. Lucky right?

Jinhan: Hor...like that means all your luck used up liao..good luck for later. Heh..

Me: Wah lau! You very CB lor...

A Dumb Question

==========================================================================

Q: I have been wondering why an emotion as strong as love has not been represented in any card, yet Hatred gets one? Is love confusing enough to print? Also, where in the color pie would love be?
--Mauro
Mexico City, Mexico

A: From Brady Dommermuth, Magic creative director:

I’ll answer the easy part of your question first, Mauro. If you use the Greek words for various kinds of love, then eros, passionate love, is definitely red, and sometimes black. Agape, brotherly love, is white. Philia, fondness or appreciation, can go in just about any color, depending on its context—even loveless blue. As for why love isn’t represented on cards very often . . . well, Magic is a game about spell battles, and cards tend to represent things that would have a use in such a battle. Just as there’s not much use for florists or picnics in a magical battle, there’s not much use for love, either. That doesn’t mean we don’t try to represent love when we can, though.

*gasp*

I just found out from Leonard that ONE BLOCK inside Gillman Heights Condominium 'belongs' to NUS Residences! Amazing!

Who wants to come live near me?

=P

Bestest Project Group Ever!

Clockwise from me: Leonard, Clement, Lynnette & Lavinia

My first paper draws near (EL2151), and studying for it inevitably reminds me of this bunch of crazy people! I can sincerely say that since I've entered NUS, this is the BEST project group I've ever had! We have SOOO much fun, and we talk SOOO much crap, I swear if you all knew you would just flip knowing that we managed a 19/20 for our project! Hahaha...

I will always remember the fervent 'discussions' over lunch in (now under construction) The Deck, and our late night typing of our report. The multiple trips to Starbucks and Ya Kun will always stay imprinted in my memories. Those were super fun...I never knew collecting data while role-playing could be so fun.

For now, hope everyone is studying hard, and I will see you in LT11 bright and early tomorrow morning! And let's not forget our dinner date after the exams! The dunno-what-place that Lavinia was raving about...heh.

So...cheers to a great time spent together! Keep in touch everyone!

Good luck for the exams and all that shit as well... =P

============================================================
PS:

1. I know this is not the nicest picture, but we will have to make do ok? We can take a nicer looking picture after exams...heh (of course, this is of no fault of the photographer)

2. I am aware that the word 'best' does not exist in a 'more' superlative form, but I don't give a damn. HAH!

The Valkyrie Skirt : Chapter 1

The little girl was a pretty thing. She had golden hair, and silver starlight in her azure eyes. She was a creature born of magic and mystery. Sitting in the middle of the field of magnolias, all shadowy from the night, she waited for her present. This gift was promised to her eons ago, but it was this night that she was instructed to wait in a field of magnolias, for a messenger who would deliever her mysterious present.

The cool night breeze tickled the soft grass covering the field, whipping up residual magic as it passed it tendrils through the flowers. The little girl watched the night sky, scanning it for a sign - there was none. She decided to wait...and wait...

Colours!

Don't you just love COLOURS?

2 Wizards, a Nun & a Dunno-what

I realised I now have a new passion! That's COUNTER-BLOGGING! Hahaha...here I go!

As you can see, we have The Crimson and The Shimmery Blue (both excellent and well loved wizards of this era, I might add). There are, however, new additions to Middle Earth.

The Nun

Dressed in what I suspect to be fisherman pants and a pseudo habit, is the Nun. She (or is it He?) bolsters the party's healing and moral boosting capabilities with her, umm...eight-octave high chants and hymns.

The black clipboard she holds represents the contract she made with the Dark Ones early in her career as a fledgling practitioner of the Holy Arts. She was at a critical stage of her training when she was most vulnerable, and unfortunately, she was lulled (albeit momentarily) over to the Dark Side. This is a test that all young Nuns face, and her brush with the Dark Side will definitely add to her abilities with dealing with other Dark Ones.

She specialises in high-octave (sometimes off pitch), evil-eradicating hymns, and also highly cosmetic (and moisturing and moisture-locking) healing salves that are steeped in the essence of the Holy.

The Dunno-what

The Dunno-what is a sort of rogue character who doesn't really specialise in anything. How do we know that he is a Dunno-what? Well, from the head dress alone (its not even a proper hood and it looks like a someone threw a dish cloth at the guy), it is sufficient to tell. There is obviously no affiliation to any known order on Middle Earth, and his skills remain a mystery to most of the common folk.

It has been reported (though by dubious sources) that the main repertoire of skills the Dunno-what possesses belong to that of what is commonly known as Dance. This is a highly colloquial form of nomenclature, and is frowned upon by more experienced Dunno-whats. It has been reported that when utilising Dance skills, the Dunno-what is able to produce copious amounts of a certain liquid from his skin. The exact chemical composition of this liquid is undetermined, but it is known to be highly pungent to most common folk.

Dance skills are often used to hypnotise foes and passing creeps, but often at the risk of entering a trance-like state that the Dunno-what himself may find hard to get out of. Thus, though powerful and effective, should be used with great prudence and the Dunno-what should also NOT be under the influence of ale, wine or other form of spirit.

====================================================================

This post was only possible because I have many low-content modules this semester (IN YOUR FACE!), and I like talking crap. Love all of you (especially MA BIATCH)!!! ^_^

More Wizards!

The Crimson and The Shimmery Blue

When your friends are really BORED...this is what they do...they TRY to spoof your post (but in this case fail terribly and just end up copying). Thanks to Grace, we now have to come up with a new name for our previous Blue wizard. He shall be know as The Matte Blue, and here pictured in this post is The Shimmery Blue. Of course, the most wonderful Crimson was the main purporter of this extension of the 'wizarding' madness! Hahaha...

Have fun studying guys! Let's make Central Library and YIH as 'magical' as we can!

(boy, that was DAMN lame sia...)

Wizards of Middle Earth in CL, Level 5

The Grey and The Blue

This is what exam stress causes - the intense need to take nonsensical photographs. Studying is boring sometimes, which is why I have great friends who are willing to do silly things with me! Hahaha...

Valkyrie Skirt Report : Coded

Product of alchemy made with heart of hardened fear. I required the youthful resolve in you, bounded with my necronimous energy. Over envious foes are watching us, reassessing & resting. With every calculated step we close in on the 'Languid Acolyte'. The skirt lacks a large killing force. Kinetic drive levels show definitive improvement. Tenuous forays regarding 'shrapnel' missiles were sometimes met by Shield Auras, Serial Bursts and 'Flect Amidas'.

The Valkyrie Ckirt has apposing furces within its wicious strikes. Thise forces cause lotational drift and may end up damaging the Valkirie Skirt permanently. These apposing forces can be rectified with the fjsionic compund, Zumdahlium.

Mae! Sode no Shirayuki. {舞え! 袖の白雪.}

I'm a bit crazy today! I declare this week...

Kuchiki Rukia Week!!!

She's not my favourite character from Bleach, but I was surfing deviantart today (yeah, yeah, I should've been studying), and I found so many nice pictures of her! Those deviantart members rock man! She still hasn't revealed her zanpakutō in the anime lor...I wanna see! Well, at least followers of the manga have already seen it in it's full shikai glory. Sighz... *jealous pout*

In the meantime, some artitsts' impressions of the beautiful babe of the week!

One of her attacks, an artist's impression.

An artist's impression of her bankai!
(She's in half-hollow form I think)

This week is going to be all dedicated to her! So fun! Still got to study for exams though, so I guess I will leave these pictures of her up here for awhile. ^_^ I can't wait for the exams to be over, so that I can concentrate on other things. Like my upcoming projects, and my friends, and my family! Holidays are coming soon! Cheer up!

My last meal at The Deck, which is now closed for renovation. Yong Tau Foo in Laksa gravy...SHIOK! I will miss this dearly...

My first meal in NUS after The Deck closed. Teriyaki chicken with Fragrant Garlic Rice on a Hot Plate.

I will miss the food at The Deck. Closed for ONE WHOLE YEAR leh...what will I eat man...fortunately there's still Business, Engineering and Science. Not to mention the Gecko and YIH. Bugger bugger bugger...I want my Arts Canteen back! Boohoo!

Indecisive Manoeuver

tingly-winglies and fuzzy-wuzzies within human souls
awash with sensations, skin aglow
starry skies and dim lamplight
lacing digits, tip to palm

proclamations of old repeated once more
ancient desires evoked this night
slipping control and tripping vigilance
allowed them to seep through those cracks in your heart

the residue, platonic
the procedure, cacophonic and painful
the news, abrupt and derailing
the beginning, wonderful, almost magical

Gray / Dijon / Gray

I received the nicest surprise yesterday! As SOME of you might know (if you bother to pay attention to my incessant whining and pick up on some key points), I've been hankering after a Timbuk2 bag for like...umm...20 million years? LOL. Well, guess what? I finally have one! Some of my friends got together and started a "Help Xing Jian get a Timbuk2 Bag Fund"...sweet right?

The last time someone did something like this for me was when I was in JC, and this friend of mine went around to everyone (almost 20 people I think..a lot hor? so much effort...) who knew me to ask for contributions to this MP3 player I was eyeing...my first MP3 player ever. Heh...brings back memories. A lot of ressonance...hahaha. So a big thank you to the following people:

Koustav (You're FABULOUS! 100 points for you!)
Lionel (Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!)
Matt (thanks for the card as well...really made my day ^_^)

Hongxuan (what can I say? *bleah* =j)

Leonard (你是我的超人!!!)

Daniel (你是丹/蛋/弹? lub you!)

Vincent (The MASTERMIND...thank you so much for this! 真的很感动!)

I erred in judgement, I must admit. Why must you give me cause to reassess my committment? Is your face so important to you that you'd say such hurtful things? I have to avoid you because I can't confront you. And trust me, there is more at stake than your fucking FACE!

Step Up wasn't great. Sighz...$$$ wasted. Ah well, at least the company was good, so that wasn't too bad. I don't why I am blogging now...guess I am just bored I think. I have a feeling this poetry thing may stick around for quite awhile. Heh...well, writing can be quite fun, as long as you have some purpose I guess...so therapeutic! ^_^

PS: I took one hour to type this...Chinese is tough to type man...somemore my 汉语拼音 is so rusty. And kudos to Aeron & Hongxuan for their editing! I couldn't have done it without them.

For Weixiong

Don't worry yourself over this,
It changes not what we have.
I promise I will not run from you,
I only need a reprieve from it all.
Take heart, for I shall return.
Ready to explore again
from where we left off.

Think not of the negatives
Think not of the positives
Think only of what must be done
To sooth your troubled heart.
Always speak truly and plainly

Give me time
Give me space
I will return to you.
Fret not my friend.

Rest well.
Good night.

Stupid People

It's amazing how stupid people can get. I was in class waiting for my lecturer to come in to administer the dreaded Phonology which I almost did not study for. It was really nerve-wracking knowing that I was totally not prepared for it at all. I mean, I read a little, but last night was really not a good night for me.

Came back late from birthday party (thank you Gerald so much for driving! I owe you! 2047!), tried to study, and then realising that I won't be eating pomegranates anymore. Sianz...

So, back to the story. So the phonology students were sitting in the class, and the first thing we noticed was how many new faces there were in the class. It was almost scary... Was it possible that these people actually skipped EVERY SINGLE lesson during the semester? As typical Singaporeans, we just kept quiet of course, and whispered amongst ourselves. Even my friend who skips a considerable numbers of lectures was shocked to learn that there actually a possibility that there were people more power than her.

So Matt and I were like staring, and whispering also..about how irresponsible these students were. Then suddenly, one of the 'new faces' turned behind and asked me in a low whisper...

"Excuse me, is this the Philosophy class?"

I looked at him, and blinked once, twice..and then answered with a shit-eating grin on my face...

"NOOO...this is the PHONOLOGY class..."

The guy gave me an embarrassed look and informed his friend. They then got up and left the lecture. Keep in mind that this was after 15 minutes of Dr Bao running through the exam format for the PHONOLOGY paper, and explaining his expectations for the PHONOLOGY paper...gosh...it's pretty clear that these guys didn't attend their Philosophy class as well if they did not even recognise their lecturer...HAHAHA...

Anyway, the test did not go well at all, and I think my 20% is gone lah...better mug for the finals liao...60%. Still got chance to turn things around.

The pain is sinking in now...
Fucking hate it...so annoying...
(and yes, the same rules apply, please don't ask me what's wrong unless you want to incur my wrath. Seeya peeps!)

Pomegranates

Two breakfasts and one that will never be.
Two suppers full of chatting and iced milk tea.
Bean curd that was finally tasted,
And pomegranates that never will be;
Such is the state of things.

Two strangers who met at the flea,
Gracious thanks I give to thee.
Uncertainty sprung forth from history,
Two weeks lost to four months, see?
Such is the state of things.

Three seeds of the food of my world you have taken,
So it seems you should stay.
However, as the bargain goes,
Only a quarter of your time will be given to me.
Fleeting was (and will be) the time spent together.
Two friends never destined to be lovers.
Such is the state of things.

The hurt I carry is so familiar,
Simply because IT IS similar.
When will I learn this important lesson?
Maybe when my blindness lessens.
Such is the state of things.

Of the things that remain,
Memories of...
Clever repartee and unique wisdom.
Cuddles and kisses and Springfield pants.
Interlocking fingers and lightly touching limbs.
[Breathe. Nuzzle. Bite.]
Burning so brightly and hotly they do,
Searing the very fabric of me.
Such is the state of things.

I'm glad we shared that bean curd...
Pity we may never share those pomegranates.

Such is the state of things.

PS:

I wish you wisdom in navigating your own armada.
I wish you success in conquering your own lands.

Happy Birthday Lionel!

I love this website! There are a lot of cool things man! Animated GIFs! Wheee...

My Shirt!

I was wearing a red, striped polo today. Quite nice, I was feeling all red, and bright and prosperous. Then I was in the library getting myself a coffee.

Then I met my friend, and suddenly he asked me for a BIG FAVOUR. I was like, "What?" *suspicious look* Then he asked, "Can I have your shirt?" I was like, 'deer-in-headlights' look and "WHAT?!"

Haiz...fortunately I brought a sweater-ish thing, and I just put that on instead. So now, I've gone from red to green, and I'm sporting a pushed-up sleeve look. Heh...

Great Weekend

This weekend was good for me. Abit tiring, but definitely worth it. Let's see...how did it go?

Friday

The hapless birthday girl prepared for HER birthday dinner party late! I knew she would pull a stunt like that, and I tried my best to arrive as late as possible. In the end, I still ended up chauffeuring her around in a cab, and grocery shopping with her, and eventually, cooked her entire dinner for her. Well, she helped of course, with her excellent stirring and chopping (sorta...) skills. Hahaha...but I didn't mind lah, it's her birthday mah...I await the day where I can go over to her house and eat a real, homemade dinner, that she did not go out last minute to buy from the store downstairs. Hahaha..

Saturday

This was a super long day...started out the day with tuition with my Taiwanese kid. He threw a temper tantrum, and I of course, did not give him any face. He refused to cooperate with me during our conversation practice. Just refused to speak lor...so I raised my voice at him, and guess what? He fumed, and semi-teared, and sulked the rest of the lesson....ugh...so annoying...so I gave up, and left.

Told him that I'd see him on Tuesday...

Then it was off to school, for my PA meeting. First meeting ever, and it was mighty fun. I really do enjoy this family that I've joined and I am certain that I will have a ball of a time there. The meeting took a little long though, and I had to leave early for my other tuition class at 5pm. Of course, I had to take a cab, and I made it in time. This session was not too bad, and I think we made some headway, and I seem to break through to him abit. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that he will no longer produce sentences like "It adds to my love to cock."

*shudders*

Finally, I ended my 'day' part of the day...it was finally time for my night activity. I met my friend in Yishun for supper (okay, it was actually dinner for me). He brought me to this nice coffeeshop-ish place near another part of Yishun that I don't frequent as often. It was nice...we sat, ate, drank, chatted for about 2+ hours? Yeah, it was nice lah...hope to do it again soon... ^_^

[no thanks to the stupid ppl phonecalls I got during the day though...annoyed the hell out of me!]

Sunday (Today)

Met my friend in the morning to gym. Realised that the Yishun ClubFit only opens at 9am...so we stone for a good hour, talking nonsense and the like. Heh...I think I overdid it on the bench press abit, but fortunately I had help. Then we went to Khatib Macs for a MACDONALD's BREAKFAST! I had my favourite Hotcakes and Sausage! Heehee...yummy!

After breakfast was just a lot of walking around and lazing around as I showed off my part of Yishun. Then finally parted ways and I went home to prepare to go back down to Depot Rd.

Took an 855 down, but slept and overshot my busstop, and also managed to get this terrible kink in my neck (and some toopid toot said he'd break my neck for me instead of massaging it...bleah!). Anyway, the kink went away eventually, and I was back in Depot. Went down to school to sign HX into the gym...and yes...I gymmed AGAIN! Siao right? Now I am so tired lah...cannot even study. I keep dosing off lor. Argh...

But dinner was very very good. I had fish & chips at the cafe in the guildhouse. So nice! Very filling! Heehee... (oh, I realised that the discount was only 5%...how measly is that?! Sheesh...)

Now at home liao...really should get to bed lah...don't think I can study at all...should just pack my bag and get ready for bed... *yawnz*

Happy Birthday Mish!

I did not sleep a wink last night. Two important phonecalls, one after another...sighz

HOW? Both so important...later class sure die...ugh.
==================================================================

Sometimes I wonder if praying at the 四面佛 in Bangkok was the reason, but if it really was because of that things are taking a turn for the better, then I thank it sincerely. Hahaha...I'm glad for the new friend I made this week, and am sure excited as hell about going back to Yishun after so long. ^_^

I love collecting nuggets of information and taking note of important details and such...heehee. Tomorrow will be my first PA meeting, and I need to do a speech and all that jazz. Better start thinking about how I wanna plan my CCS man. Tough...whew...but I shall take it as a challenge!

Tonight heading over to Mish's place for dinner! Her birthday lor! Heehee...so exciting, haven't seen them for sooooo long! Can't wait!

You're The BEST

So I have this disgustingly important test for my PS1101E module this coming Thurs (which is like...TMR!), and I have to study for it lah. My brother is the best...he actually needed to go back to Yishun to get my mom to sign something for him. So this meant that I'd actually have to be at home to take care of Grandpa, cos' at least one of us HAS to be there every day...especially at night.

My bro was super nice, cos' when I said I really needed to study...he said he'd settle the matter himself, and make sure that he would be at home so that I can stay in school to study late into the night. Sweetness dude! I owe ya one!

My brother is the best!

Back to PS shit..ugh...memorise memorise memorise...
